Mumbai: Free ambulance services outside some suburban stations are likely to be launched by mid-March, which will help railway mishap victims reach the nearest hospital for treatment within the golden hour, or the first crucial hour of an emergency. Recently, several train mishap victims lost their lives or limbs owing to delayed medical aid.
To show how the facility under the Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services will work, a demonstration was conducted for Central Railway (CR) officials at CST on February 24 Monday. According to a CR official, the agency, BVG India Ltd, is prepared to deploy two kinds of ambulances here, Advance Life Support Ambulances (ALS) and Basic Life Support Ambulances (BLS). A state official clarified that though the ambulances would be deployed near railway stations, the facility would be extended to any patient or mishap victim in the neighbourhood. |
