Government Intervention Sought to Expedite Ambulance Stations Project

Doha: The Central Municipal Council (CMC) has sought government intervention in the issue of launching permanent stations for ambulances and air ambulances outside Doha.

Over one year has passed since the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning identified sites for developing permanent stations at 26 locations across the country. But there has been little progress in the project, CMC Deputy Chairman Jassim Al Malki said.

Currently, air ambulances and a large contingent of Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) ambulance fleet are stationed at the HMC headquarters. For want of permanent stations outside Doha, the service is not available on time in the event of any accidents or causalities in these areas, especially during the peak hours when the roads experience heavy traffic, councillors said during sessions. It is against this backdrop the CMC has sought government intervention to expedite project work.
