After Mishaps, Railways Plan to Bridge Platform Gap, and Ambulance Deployed at all Stations

Mumbai: The railways have approved a proposal to increase the height of platforms in suburban stations to 920 mm to reduce the risk of passengers falling through the gap between trains and platforms.

Also, ambulances will be deployed 24X7 at 28 stations between Churchgate and Virar on Western Railway and Central Railway's 18 stations between CST and Mulund, to give emergency medical support to those injured in mishaps. However, stations in Thane district and the Harbour corridor have been ignored in this phase.
