Khyber Teaching Hospital to Provide Airlift Service -First of kind


Peshawar: The Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) will be the first institution of its kind in the country to have a helipad for its accident and emergency department (A&E). The service aims to provide prompt medical help to bomb blast victims from across the province.

KTH Chief Executive DrUmerAyub made the announcement while releasing the hospital’s annual performance report on April 21 Sunday. The administration also highlighted a number of achievements in the infrastructure of various departments.

The 10-storey A&E department is under construction and is expected to be completed by 2015 at the cost of Rs650 million. The helicopter will be provided by the provincial government and will transport those injured at blast sites from anywhere in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) to the hospital.
