In a major attempt to stabilise the heavy rush at Hamad Medical Corporation’s Emergency Department, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) will be introducing emergency care services at the various health centres by end of this year.
PHCC’s Managing Director Dr Mariam Abdulmalik stated in a report by The Peninsula that emergency cases were mostly referred to HMC’s Emergency Department because the cases needed “medical treatment for sub-specialties, not available at PHCC health centres as per its scope of services.”
With this new initiative, urgent care treatment rooms will be set up in health centres and a helpline will be available to address patient’s needs over telephone |
