Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government is toying with the idea of setting up a State Emergency Response Centre for industrial and chemical disasters.
At the State Crisis Group (SCG) meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary JK Mohapatra, here on January 18 Saturday, it was proposed that the centre could operate from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) at Bhubaneswar which mainly deals with natural calamities.
Since the SEOC has communication and manpower, establishment of the emergency response centre for industrial and chemical disasters could be facilitated.
The SCG also mooted formation of a joint panel, drawing officers from different administrative departments, which would assess the hazard situation periodically. |
