Special Ambulances Launched for Heart-attack Cases

Chandigarh: Around 70-80 per cent of cardiac arrest patients from the tri-city reach the hospital for medical help after the passage of the critical golden hour (60 minutes after the heart attack), risking the life of the patient. To provide timely treatment to heart attack patients, Max Hospital has launched a first-of-its-kind ambulance service in the city, on April 21 Sunday.

Dr Anurag Sharma, senior consultant, Cardiology said, "Timely treatment within the golden hour is most important for heart patients, because the longer the gap between the heart attack and treatment, the more will be the damage to the heart. At our hospital, most of the patients reaches after 4-5 hours, by that time most of the damage has been done to the heart."
