China Launches Emergency Response for Typhoon Krosa

Beijing: An emergency warning was issued on November 1 Friday for Typhoon Krosa, one of the strongest recent typhoons, which may hit China's southern coastal regions in the next few days.

A fourth-level emergency, the lowest level, was announced by the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, warning local authorities to monitor the typhoon, forecast its movement and ensure the safety of the people.

The National Meteorological Center said that Krosa's center was about 900 km east of Hainan Island at 10 a.m. on November 1 Friday and was moving at a speed of 20 km per hour toward Guangdong and Hainan provinces.
