Bhubaneswar: The state government is planning to put in place a protocol to make the emergency ambulance service in Odisha more efficient.
The steering committee on Emergency Medical Ambulance Service (OEMAS), under the chairmanship of health secretary P K Mohapatra, has proposed that the decision on the hospital where a patient needs to be shifted should be taken by the trained ambulance staff.
Sources said the frequent attacks on ambulances and their forcible diversion to hospitals of attendants' choice had become a headache for the implementing authorities. Since the launch of the 108 service in March, 10 ambulances have been damaged in mob attacks. |
