Basic Life-saving Skills for Kolkata Cabbies Soon


Kolkata: The state transport department is going to organize a first-aid training programme for 5,000 taxi drivers in the city, so that they could provide help to passengers if they fall ill while in the taxi.The taxi drivers, after completing the training, will be given a certificate on basic life-saving, said sources.

The training programme will be held at Netaji Indoor stadium on August 26. Eminent doctorswould provide the training, said transport minister MadanMitra.

The minister also clarified that the government had no plans of cancelling yellow taxis, saying there was a rumour circulating in this regard.
