India Gifts 20 Ambulances, 4 Buses

Kathmandu: 20 ambulances and 4 buses were gifted on August 15 Thursday by the Government of India to various hospitals, non-profit organisations and educational institutions on the occasion of the 67th Independence Day of India.

At a function held on the Indian Embassy premises in Kathmandu to mark Independence Day, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad unfurled the national flag of India. After the function, the Indian ambassador presented 14ambulances and 3 buses to the recipient organisations from 16 districts. The remaining 6 ambulances and 1 bus were gifted by the Consulate General of India, Birgunj, to the organisations under its jurisdiction.

India has gifted 402 ambulances to various organisations across 70 districts since 1994. "This has helped in bringing healthcare services to the doorstep of thousands of people who do not have access to healthcare service," said a statement issued by the embassy.
