MRCS Ppens Nay Pyi Taw Highway Aid Station

The 115-mile rest area on the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw Highway now houses a 24-hour pre-hospital care and ambulance station operated by the Myanmar Red Cross Society, a spokesperson said on February 25.

The post will cut the time it takes for ambulances and healthcare to reach crash sites, the society’s deputy secretary general, DrAungKyawHtut, said on February 26.

“Many traffic accidents happen on this highway. And many people have died unnecessarily due to delays in getting them to hospital or by delivering them to hospital in poor transport,” he said. “If they receive first aid [at the scene] and are referred to the hospital in time, their chances of survival will be higher,” he said.
