Workers' Strike Pulls 108 Services off the Road

Vishakhapatnam: Patients across the state are in for a harrowing time with the 108 emergency services going off the road from July 19 Friday due to indefinite strike call given by employees following a standoff with the GVKEMRI management over a wage hike.

Each 108 ambulance handles over 7 to 8 cases on a daily basis, which means that nearly 1200 cases on a daily basis may go unattended in the North Coastal Andhra districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari till the strike continues.
