Free Ambulance Service in all Districts by December, Pact Inked


Bhubaneswar: The state government on July 16 Tuesday signed an MoU with Ziqitza Health Care, a Mumbai-based private ambulance service provider, for expansion of the free emergency ambulance service to 15 more districts. As many as 140 more ambulances will run in these districts by December this year, taking the total in the state to 420, a government statement said.

Health secretary P K Mohapatra and Ziqitza CEO Sweta Mangal inked the deal. In the first phase, the government in association with the same private group had launched the service from Khurda district on March 5 and extended it to Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Rayagada and Koraput districts. The service will begin in Keonjhar district on July 17 Wednesday. Around 280 ambulances, either with basic life support or advanced life support system, are running in these districts.
