1,000 Ambulances for Women, Infants

Lucknow: The state cabinet on June 27 Thursday cleared the proposal to start 102 ambulance service for pregnant women, newborns and new mothers. Under the service, a fleet of 1000 ambulances will be made available for women and newborns in times of need.

The ambulances would be stationed at the block level and can be availed through a centralised toll free number 102.

The 102 ambulance service would mark the second phase of the Samajwadi Ambulance Sewa. In the first phase, launched last year, 972 ambulances were provided to all districts. With the addition of 1,000 ambulances, the second phase of the project would also see the setting up of a common call centre, with all 1,972 ambulances linked to it.
