108 Sirens Prove Life-Saving for City, Vidarbha


Nagpur: Notwithstanding its recent alleged misuse, in the two years since its launch on Republic Day in 2014, the 108 ambulance service has proved to be a success story not just in Nagpur but the whole of Vidarbha.

In Nagpur circle alone, 108 has served 1,20,664 patients between January 2014 and August 31 this year. The maximum utilization is for trauma or accident, followed by deliveries. So far, 1,036 deliveries have taken place in 108 ambulances in Nagpur circle and 1,252 in Akola circle. In Nagpur district, 43,010 patients have been served by 108.
