A rapidly growing number of regional fire departments are introducing systems whereby people can contact emergency services online using their smartphones.
\r\nThis enables people with hearing impairments and speech problems to quickly request help in an emergency, and also provides fire departments with their location. About 150 fire departments have introduced such systems, a five-fold increase from four years ago. |
