“Most of us know swimming. But we had not undergone formal training with regard to protecting the lives of victims in a swimming pool. After a 10-day formal training, we have learnt a lot on how to save lives,” Omkar Swamy, working as a lifeguard in a private swimming pool, said. Omkar Swamy was among the 40 trainees from Bidar, Kalaburagi, Hosapete and Ballari to undergo life-guard training. The free training was organised outside Bengaluru for the first time by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, through the Pune-based Tarang Sports and Education Foundation, here. |
