Emergency Service Proposed for Children in Need

Bengaluru: After the death of 19-month-old Gagana due to alleged non-availability of ventilators on time, doctors at Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health (IGICH) do not want a repeat of such similar incidents. They have pitched the idea of introducing Paediatric Emergency Transport and Trauma Service (PETS) and Neonatal Emergency Transport Service (NETS).

This service will enable a team of trained doctors, who, on receiving a call, will reach the spot where the child is in a critical condition and provide the best possible care even as the patient is being taken to hospital.
