Labuan Needs Ambulance Boat for Emergency Transfer of High Risk Patients


Labuan: Labuan will soon have its ambulance boat for the emergency transfer of patients in dire need of medical treatment to the fully-equipped government hospitals in the mainland of Sabah.Due to the Labuan Nucleus Hospital’s status as a minor specialist hospital, most of the high-risk patients in the duty-free-island here have been transferred to Kota Kinabalu Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), either by air or sea mercy operations for critical treatment.

Labuan Health director Dr Ismail Ali told Bernama a total of 372 high-risk patients have been sent to QEH through ferry and mercy operations since 2013.
