Shanghai Red Cross Brings in First Aid Facilities


Saturday(September 12)was World First Aid Day. In Shanghai, the Red Cross brought in first aid facilities at some of the city\'s key transport hubs to help residents in need and promote awareness.

A portable machine called an Automated External Defibrillator can provide electrical therapy to patients who encounter sudden abnormal heart beats that can threaten their life.An AED can effectively stop irregular heartbeats within 30 seconds, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective momentum. Without the treatment, a patient\'s survival rate is reduced by 7 to 10 percent every minute.
