Virac Ferry Faces MARINA Suit for Refusing to Load Ambulance


The Maritime Industry Authority regional office has ordered the owner of the Tabaco-Virac ferry M/V Eugene Elson to explain why it refused to load and rejected an ambulance carrying a trauma patient last month.

In an order issued last June 25, MARINA regional director Engr. Jaime Bea directed the Peñafrancia Shipping Corporation based in Pili, Camarines Sur to explain and show cause in writing within 10 days from receipt why its Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) should not be suspended or revoked or why fines and penalties should not be imposed against it for the alleged violation.
