Dhangadi: With no ICUs and ventilators at hospitals in the district, deaths from snake bite have been rising in Dhangadi. Most recently, 2 locals of Dhangadi, headquarters of the district, died while being taken for medical treatment. Hospitals here don´t have ICUs and ventilators for the treatment of snake bite and because of this many have lost their lives in the past, said a local.
Many snake-bite victims are brought here in an unconscious state and we find ourselves helpless, informed Chairperson of the emergency department at Seti Zonal Hospital, Krishna Bohora. "Patients who become unconscious after being bitten by snake should be kept in an ICU and inside a ventilator but we don´t have such facilities. Because of this, many patients die," said Bohora. |
