Davao City: A P545-million fund has been approved by the city council here to beef up the local government’s disaster management system through the procurement of additional equipment, manpower training and infrastructure improvement.

“The budget of P500 million-plus is already available and part of it is made up of the balance from 2014 which we can use anytime,” said Councillor Danilo C Dayanghirang, chair of the committee on finance, ways and means. The fund falls under the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund Investment Plan for 2015, which will be divided into the key operation areas of the Davao City Central Communication and Emergency Response Center Team, or Central 911, and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC).
