11 Ambulances Worth 1.10 crore rot in SMG

Srinagar: In a glaring example of the sorry state of affairs in the health department, at least 11 ambulances worth Rs1.10 crore are lying unused in the State Motor Garage Jammu and Kashmir.

The ambulances purchased by the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir through State Motor Garages lie unattended from last nine months in the compound of Motor Garages. Insiders told that the Health Department purchased around 11 ambulances nine months back and since the date of purchasing they are lying unattended and out of use. One of the top officials of the SMG said that though several times they communicated to the Directorate of Health Department to take the ambulances in their possession but they never paid any heed.

“In August 2014 we purchased 11 ambulances on the requisition of Health Department but we fail to understand that though 9 months have passed the health department does not take the vehicles,” he said.
