Glitch Leaves 119 Emergency Number Down for 2nd Time in 2Months in Tokyo


Tokyo: The Tokyo Metropolitan Fire Department said on April 15 that its emergency 119 line was down for about four hours from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 14 Tuesday. It was the second time in 2 months that the 119 had been inaccessible.
In February, all 23 wards of Tokyo were affected. In Tuesday’s glitch, the service was partially interrupted in all wards, Fuji TV reported.Officials said that 59 emergency calls could not get through during the outage, and that a number of medical and fire emergency situations were affected by the issue.
