Himachal Pradesh Gov. Plans to Start Air-ambulance for Patients in Tribal Areas

Shimla: Finding it hard to have sufficient deployment of specialist doctors in tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh, the state government has now planned to launch heli-ambulance scheme to airlift patients from tribal areas to other parts of the state with better medical facilities.

A proposal to this effect has already been submitted to the Union government and preliminary discussions on the issue have already been held. As the state is facing acute shortage of specialist doctors, sending some of them to tribal areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Pangi-Bharmaur regions of Chamba district has become impossible for the government.
