Helipads Planned along Highways to Airlift Injured


The Centre plans to set up helipads along the national highways to airlift people injured in road accidents, according to a senior National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) official here.The facility will also be useful to provide alternative travel option to VIPs travelling on the expressway to reach their destinations faster.

One such helipad will come up at Tangutur in Prakasam district close to the arterial Chennai-Kolkata highway, said National Highways Authority of India Project Director AV Rao during a district-level road safety committee meeting chaired by Collector GSRKR Vijaykumar here on 9 February.
