Thiruvananthapuram: An expert committee overseeing the National Trauma and Burns Care (NTBC) scheme has selected Kerala’s State Action Plan for Health System Strengthening for Organised Trauma Care as the reference action plan for developing trauma care systems across the country.Kerala’s action plan, which involves GIS mapping to identify accident-prone areas, potential ambulance points and nearest hospitals to be upgraded as resuscitation points, is being rolled out in phases over the next 5 years. \r\n
Thirty public health institutions at strategic points on national highways and MC Road will be upgraded to designated levels of trauma care as per the Health Ministry’s national guidelines.
