Some 20 emergency hotlines will be merged into three numbers next year -- 112 (crimes), 119 (disaster and rescue), 110 (other matters), the Ministry of Public Safety and Security announced on 27 January. \r\n
The measure had been discussed since June last year in the wake of the deadly ferry disaster and aims to make the whole system more efficient.
