Yang Shuyu, the director of the Xiamen Health and Family Planning Commission, recently raised the issue of a severe ambulance shortage during a Xiamen government meeting, which drew Xiamen Mayor Liu Keqing’s attention. The mayor subsequently requested that the relevantdepartments solve the problem as soon as possible. \r\n According to the report, Xiamen’s ambulances were dispatched more than 58,000 times from January to November in 2014, averaging over 200 calls per day, with many ambulances having to drive a dozen times in one day. Xiamen needs 73 ambulances, according to the current population, but the fact is that there are only 35 ambulances in Xiamen at present.
