S. Korea Holds Anti-Disaster Drill Following Accidents

Seoul: South Korea conducted a nationwide anti-disaster drill on October 22 as part of efforts to better train citizens for swift evacuation in the wake of a series of deadly accidents.

The emergency drill came amid repeated calls for better safety precautions following April\'s ferry sinking that killed more than 300 people and last week\'s deadly pop concert accident.A fire drill was held on a subway train leaving Sangwolgok Station on Line 6 in northern Seoul, involving 95 citizens, including middle school students, and subway operator officials.

The drill focused on how to swiftly evacuate people and how to put the situation under control quickly in the case of a blaze on a moving subway train.
