Mumbai: Around 150 drivers and conductors from the BEST service were trained on recognizing signs of hypertension and ways to beat it. The workshop was organised by the Fortis Hospital in Mulund on the occasion of World Hypertension Day.
The participants of the workshop underwent physiotherapy sessions to battle stress. They were also given hands on training in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to help a patient who suffers cardiac arrest in the middle of the road. Dr Manjeet Singh, consultant occupational health physician at Fortis Hospital said, "Every 5th person in the city is afflicted with high blood pressure today. Since cardiac attests, direct fallout of high BP is on a rise, it is vital that that everyone knows the basic CPR technique". |
