Mumbai: In a bid to save lives, the traffic department has launched a project where calls received by the \\\'108\\\' ambulance service will be processed and cops will clear roads on priority for vehicles ferrying critical patients. \r\n \r\nThe department has tied up with a cell-phone service provider and plans to announce a dedicated phone number on which eyewitnesses or family members of patients can call on when they are about to be taken to hospital. Many lives have been lost due to ambulances getting caught up in traffic snarls. \r\n \r\n \r\n |
